Twofour wins Seenit’s Best Creative Format Story Award 2020

Meet Twofour

Twofour Group is a British television and digital media group. They produce factual and entertaining media for broadcasters such as the BBC, Channel 4, and more. Daring, original, and heartfelt, Twofour has forged a reputation for making the kind of shows no-one thought possible.

Twofour’s success story

For the past 3 years, Twofour has had Seenit in their prodution toolbox, using it to tell authentic stories. For their ‘Our School’ series broadcasted on the BBC, Twofour has been awarded Seenit’s ‘Best Creative Format Story 2020’ - a unique and incredibly moving story truly capturing the moments a film crew never could.

“We wanted to capture the experiences of kids in secondary school during the first lockdown and without Seenit it’s no exaggeration to say we wouldn’t really have been able to tell that story. Certainly not as authentically and with as much impact.”

Richard Marson - Executive Producer at Twofour

Twofour used a combination of professionally shot footage, webcam content, and user-generated video to produce the show. The kids that featured became content creators, using Seenit to document first-hand what life when the schools were closed during the first lockdown. Instead of a film crew asking them questions, they empowered the kids to film their experiences through their eyes, capturing more candid and authentic moments. This way of filming immediately appealed to the children and they were quickly able to get their heads around it and have fun with it.

“They really were creative and Seenit fuelled that creativity and really made the whole experience of programme-making playful and accessible, which is what you want for that audience.”

Richard Marson - Executive Producer at Twofour

Some statistics from their first 3 years with Seenit:

  • 15,000+ video uploads
  • from 500 contributors
  • in 700 different locations

“Both of the shows that we made using Seenit had huge impact on the audience, we know that the iPlayer stats were fantastic, and the feedback that we’ve had from the audience who watched it was that it really did help capture, in an authentic and real way, the experiences of kids going through lockdown and home-schooling.”

Richard Marson - Executive Producer at Twofour
