Creating a COVID-19 impact story

Purpose of Story πŸ€”

To understand how COVID-19 has impacted your community in their daily lives - this could come in multiple different forms...

Choose an example for this guide

Tips for staying productive while working at home
To talk openly about mental health during COVID-19
Talk about the positives

Setting the Story up ✍️

1. Story title

This should be a clear, easy-to-understand summary of the Story.

2. Story introduction video

What’s more authentic than a video message to contributors explaining what they need to do? This is the time to really hammer home what the purpose of the Story is, and get the contributors excited to be a part of it.

Video introductions allow for a more personal touch to a Story, and puts contributors at ease. Lead by example and explain how they should participate!

3. Story introduction

Contributors are more likely to take part in a Story if the introduction is simple, with a clear instruction as to what they need to do, and how the footage is going to be used.

Getting contributions βœ…

Here's what our very own Tiziana had to say about how she encouraged contributions across the series.

  1. As it was a long-running series it was important to keep up momentum by sending regular reminders. I sent calendar reminders for filming deadlines, group messages, and personal messages to the Seenit team. The personal messages on Slack (our internal messenger) always worked the best.
  2. We opened up this series to those outside of Seenit, so we promoted the project on social media, and our CEO Emily's LinkedIn. This generated a lot of signups to the story, and I made sure I messaged the joiners regularly.
  3. I asked each Seenit employee to get a friend to film, which unfortunately didn't work as well as I'd hoped.
