Getting eyes on your open vacancies is one thing, but making sure the right candidates apply is another. Recruiters are some of the busiest people in your business, so making sure their time is spent attracting and assessing quality candidates is really important.

This is a great template to use when you want to make sure the right candidates apply for your roles. It empowers potential applicants to qualify themselves out of the process, and also demonstrates that your company operates in an open and honest culture.

The key to success with this one is making sure your contributors feel really confident and secure, and understand that they are empowered to be truthful about the challenging aspects of their role. You should make sure they know that you're looking for them to focus on the aspects of the role which might separate a good candidate from the bad - so focus on skills, personality traits and positive qualities.

What is this project about?
We all know what we enjoy about our roles, but this is your chance to share what you don't love so much! We want to attract the very best talent to our teams, and this is where you come in. We would like you to film yourselves sharing the hardest aspects of your role, to help our candidates understand where they fit best in our company.

What do I need to do?

  • Be truthful, but fair. This is your chance to help us shape the way our team grows.

  • Focus in specific skills and personality traits that will thrive in the role, and those that won't.

  • Keep it friendly, warm and positive. We don't want people to feel discouraged from applying for any job at [COMPANY], we just wan to make sure they are applying for the right roles.

Top tips for running this project:

  1. 🤗 Make your contributors feel comfortable - bring them in on the project as early as possible and let them know they have permission to be honest
  2. 🤫 Be really clear about any topics that are off limits
  3. 😁 Err on the side of tongue in cheek and humour. This shouldn't be about airing grievances, it should be about acknowledging realities of the role
